Born and raised in Carthage, Missouri. She was very active in school. Kate played
basketball usually against the boys. She was a tall and slender girl with long wavy
red hair.

Kate was one of 56 student in her graduated class of 1899, Carthage High School.
At her graduation presentation she played the piano as a soloist. Newspaper
cover the event described Kate as " a Proficient young musician and rendition of
beautiful but difficult selection was received with many signs of appreciation".
Also graduating that evening was Kate's future Husband Leslie Emry.
He performed a vocal duet with Charles Russell of which was said The voices of
the young men blended beautifully and the song well merited the praise it received.
Kate later took a course in domestic science in Boston and taught in schools in
Carthage and Kansas City. She also played the piano and pipe organ at the 1st
M.E. Church in Kansas City. and Howard Memorial M.E. Church in Kansas City.

Kate died in 1921 and is buried in the Emry Family plot in Park Cemetery Carthage,
Jasper County, Missouri

In the middle of 1918 she took ill. At the time they thought is was scarlet fever.
