MARKS, Samuel A. "Sam", Jr, 89, of Powhatan, passed away August 26, 2010. He was the widower of Lucille T. Marks. He is survived by his daughter, Brenda DeBartolo and her husband, Lou; two sisters, Elizabeth Roberson and Helen Harrill; three grandsons, Mark, Matthew and Michael DeBartolo and Michael's wife, Isabel. Sam performed with the Sunrise Hillbillies on local radio during the early 1940s. He served in the Navy during World War II and was a part owner of The Log Cabin Dine & Dance until his retirement in 1983. In recent years, he enjoyed Tuesday morning gatherings at the Chesterfield Meadows McDonald's playing country music with friends, old and new. His family will receive friends 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Bliley's-Chippenham, 6900 Hull Street Road. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday at Catholic Church of the Epiphany, 11000 Smoketree Dr, followed by interment at Dale Memorial Park.
