Thomas E. Pratt

Funeral services for Thomas E. Pratt, 77, of Tyler were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, at First Baptist Church of Frankston with Thomas Pratt Jr. officiating. A private family service was held at the Frankston City Cemetery under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home of Tyler.

He was born July 24, 1927, in Stinnett to Clarence and Mahala Rose Pratt.

Mr. Pratt received his B.A. degree from the University of Corpus Christi, Master's of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Master of Science in Education and a Ph.D. in Old Testament at Baylor University, with additional Doctoral work in Education at Baylor University.

He pastored five churches in Texas and two in South Carolina. Mr. Pratt was a teacher for 12 years in Texas public schools and taught college courses in Missouri, South Carolina and Texas.

He retired to Pearland and Estes Park, Colo. in 1996. He has been a Tyler resident since 1999.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Houston Pratt of Tyler; a son, Tom Pratt Jr. and wife Karen of Aurora, Colo.; a daughter, Laura Pratt of Sugar Land; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers were the Frankston High School Class of 1944.
