Harold "Jack" Hobson of East Bend passed away October 20, 2009 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem.

He was born on May 24, 1934 in Yadkin County to Oscar William and Vernie Mae Hayes Hobson.

Mr. Hobson was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Libby H. Pilcher; brothers, David "Joe" Hobson and Jr. Hobson; and step-father, John Herman Hobson.

Surviving are his wife, JoAnn Matthews Hobson of the home; sons, Chuck Jackson (Amy) Hobson of East Bend, and Rick Dean Hobson of East Bend; daughters, Penny Darlene Metzger of Emerald Isle, and Sherre Lynn (Ralph) Betz of Mooresville; brother, Frank Hobson and special friend Doris Haas of Boonville; sisters, Emma Jean (Leo) Sizemore of Yadkinville, Kathleen Rutledge of East Bend, and Betty (Larry) Styers of Yadkinville; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at Friendship Baptist Church.

Burial will follow in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. The
