Mary Jannette Nipp peacefully passed to receive her Savior’s hand on July 3, 2020, on her 88th birthday - where she now ‘walks with Him and talks with Him’. She passed in Asheville, North Carolina, surrounded by her loving family. Mary was dearly loved by, and was devoted to, her family. Her children rise up and call her blessed.

Mary was born July 3, 1932 and raised in Altus, Oklahoma. She was the middle child with two brothers, Carter and Earl Knox, born to Douglas and Oza Knox. She was married to Carriel E. Nipp in 1950 and moved to Midland, Texas in 1952, where she raised five children, teaching them to love the Lord and to be good, strong, independent people.

Carriel and Mary owned and operated Snowhite Laundry and Cleaners for over 45 years in Midland, Texas, influencing and touching many lives over the years. They also co-owned General Service and Supply in Midland.

Mary had a very strong faith that sustained her. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, and loved acapella worship. Mary also loved witnessing God’s creations with her family in the great outdoors, as long as she could stay in an airconditioned cabin dutifully built by her husband.., on Texas’ Devil’s River, Oak Creek Lake, Possum Kingdom Lake, Rio Grande River and in New Mexico’s Ruidoso Mountains.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Carriel E. Nipp; her brother Earl Knox; her daughter, Debra Nipp; and her grandson, Matt Segulja.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Diane Segulja and husband, Tom of Midland, Texas; daughter, Donna Yelverton and husband, Tom of Kingwood, Texas; daughter, Dana Dickson and husband Russell, of Garland, Texas; and son Carriel Nipp Jr. and wife Laurie of Raleigh, North Carolina.

Mary also leaves a beautiful family legacy of twelve Grandchildren and eight Great Grandchildren, with two more ‘greats on the way’: Doug Segulja of Brooklyn, New York; Olivia Thompson and husband Michael and their son Ryan, of Midland, Texas. Chris Yelverton and wife Sarah, and their daughters Grace and Norah of Tomball, Texas; Emily Amend and husband Chapman and their daughter Anna of Houston, Texas; Mary Rich and husband Johnny and their children John Thomas, Emma, and Ali of Driftwood, Texas; and Sarah McElwrath and husband Sean, and their son Tommy of Austin, Texas. Maggie and Kate Dickson of Garland Texas; and Rachel Dickson of Lexington, Virginia. Taylor Nipp of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Jessie Fussell and husband Davis of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; and Grace Nipp of Raleigh, North Carolina.

Mary is dearly missed by her family and friends. Her graveside service for family members will be held in the fall of 2020 in Midland, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be sent to The Children’s Home of Lubbock, P.O. Box 2824, Lubbock, TX 79408. Online condolences can be made at www.andersrice.com
