Ralph Christopher Redmann, age 78, passed away on January 24, 2011. He was the beloved husband of Evelyn "Bobbie" Monié Redmann for over fifty-six years. Father and father-in-law of Evelyn Smith (Rudy IV), Denise Hoffman (Bill), Suzanne Kneale (the late James), Carol "Tuttie" Bailey ("JT"), Esther Giavotella (Mark) and Cindy Byrd (Tom). Grandfather of William R. Smith V, Michael and Thomas Krouse, Chris and Kelly Kneale, Adam, Meredith and Evan Bailey, Joseph and Dominic Giavotella, and Katie and Thomas Byrd. Also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law Ronald (Irlee), David (Rosemarie), and Robert (Nancy) Redmann, Audrey S. Redmann, Kay E. Redmann, brother-in-law Bert Donnes and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and many loving friends. Preceded in death by his parents Morris Benjamin and Esther Alice Joyce Redmann, his in-laws, Joseph Francois and Edna Mary Cobb Monie, his sister, Sr. Esther Redmann, O.S.U., his brothers Morris, Jr., retired Judge William V. , Kerry P., Richard P. and Jerome Redmann, and grand-daughter Kayleigh Grace Byrd. Mr. Redmann was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on June 17, 1932, and was a life long resident of New Orleans. He graduated from Jesuit High School in 1950 and Loyola University in 1953 with a Bachelor of Business degree in accounting. After graduation, he worked many years for I.B.M. while he also worked part time at Comeaux Furniture Store and then as comptroller for Comeaux's. In addition, Mr. Redmann taught accounting night classes at Loyola University. He was an active parishioner of St. Dominic's Church, a member of its Holy Name Society and served as Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council #3729. Mr. Redmann served as a Disaster Leadership Volunteer for the American Red Cross of Southeast Louisiana from the 1950s through the 1980's, managing shelters in particular for Hurricanes Betsy and Camille, among other disasters. Mr. Redmann also was a member of the Windsor Club and Krewe of Alhambra. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral Mass on Thursday, January 27, 2011, at 12:00pm, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation will be from 10:00am until service time. A wake will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2011, from 7:00pm until 9:00pm.
