BIOGRAPHY
by David Fauss

Aaron Walter Sohl was born in Fremont, Nebraska on July 29, 1901 to the Rev. Henry Sohl and Caroline Gabel. He was the youngest of eight children; his siblings were Anna, Amos, Ida, Ezra, Louisa 'Lulu', Lydia and Huldah.
On February 5, 1924, Aaron married Mabel Amelia Kathryn Fauss. Aaron and Mabel had known each other since childhood since their grandparents both had homestead farms near to each other four miles northeast of Winslow in Dodge County. Mabel attended Midland College in Fremont and Aaron was attending Evangelical Theological Seminary at Naperville, Illinois.
After marriage, they settled in Lincoln, where they raised their three sons, Stanley, Wayne and Lowell. Aaron had a long career working for Cengas as a purchasing agent in Lincoln. He was an active member of Calvary EUB Church (later merged with the Methodist Church) and was an excellent Bible teacher. He was a bass singer in the church choir.
Though living most of his life in the city, Aaron was a farmer at heart. He always had huge gardens when they lived at 56th and Franklin and later at 70th and South Streets, and he cultivated roses and many other flowers. He won numerous awards and ribbons at state and county fairs for his poultry.
After retirement, they moved from their 'mini-farm' on South Street to 1211 Rose Street, where he died on March 14, 1976.
