Janice Sapp Blake, age 92, lifelong resident of Palatka passed away May 9, 2010, at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center. She was the third of four daughters of Frank and Mettie Sapp.
Mrs. Blake worked with her husband and brothers-in-law at Blake's Inc., a wholesale drygoods business, until 1968, and then at Wattles' Printing and Office Supply until her retirement at age 72. She was a long time and faithful member of First Baptist Church and a member of the Caring Sunday School class. Mrs. Blake enjoyed outdoor activities and working in the yard. Her life has been characterized by devotion to family, industry at work, a lively spirit and a positive outlook.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Wilmer L. Blake, in 2008, and is survived by her daughter, Carol Diane Whetstone, and a number of nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home with Reverend Charles T. Rabun, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill East Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until time of services.
