Rosa Schliwen was born in Arnsberg (Westfalen).
''Felicitas Rose'' (her pen name) was a writer and became soon famous. She wrote at least 33 books, mostly novels, between 1900 and 1937. Her most successful novel was ''Heideschulmeister Uwe Karsten'' (1909); two movies (1933 and 1954) were based on this book.
Since 1929 she lived in the romantic village Müden an der Örtze (now township of Faßberg, Landkreis Celle, Lower Saxony).
