Etta Saloma (Sides) Moffat was born August 7, 1907 in Winston Salem, North Carolina to Lucy Elga and Henry Harden Sides and passed away March 28, 1998 in the Roger Mills Memorial Hospital at the age of 90 years, 7 months and 21 days.
Etta moved with her family to the Doxey community and later to Durham, Oklahoma in 1918 where she attended school. She later graduated from cosmetology school in Amarillo, Texas and was part owner of a beauty shop in Canadian, Texas.
Etta married Ray Moffat on February 14, 1940 in Clovis, New Mexico and they lived in Durham before moving to Cheyenne in 1978 to make their home. Etta loved to help others and was well know for making wedding cakes for her friends. She also loved working with flowers in her garden.
She was a faithful member of the Cheyenne Church of Christ.
Her parents, husband, three brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Annette and Bill Stanley of Elk City, Oklahoma; one brother Frank Sides of Fresno, California; one granddaughter Cathy Stanley of Denton, Texas; two grandsons, Darryl Stanley of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Carl Stanley of Norman, Oklahoma; one great granddaughter Cheyenne Qualls of Denton, Oklahoma and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Services were at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 1998 at the Cheyenne Church of Christ, officiated by Willard Cox and assisted by Jay Eckhart, Interment was at the Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
Pallbearers were Wesley York, Ray Haven, Buster Tidwell, Robert Cecil, Reggie Blackwell and Max Montgomery.
