Laura Hattie Frances Washington departed this life Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond.

She is survived by three daughters, Iris Washington of Tappahannock, Rachel Darlene Banks of Millers Tavern and Claudia W. Johnson of Bruington; three sisters, Josephine Braxton of Tappahannock, Geneva Braxton of Stafford and Alma Chamberlain of Alexandria; one brother, Charles Chamberlain of King William; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at Washington Funeral Home, Tappahannock. The service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at Wayland Baptist Church, Stevensville, with the Rev. Eli Jones officiating and the Rev. Rubin Carter as eulogist. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
