Charles Stiller, 84, of 809 West Fifth, died early this morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Harry Preisendorf, 1920 West 18th, following an illness of 18 months.

He was born June 28, 1870, at Saxony, Germany, to William and Wilhelmine Stiller, and came to America with his parents at the age of ten. The family located in Merrick County, three miles west of Chapman. He moved to Oklahoma as a young man. He married Anne Augusta Mattke, Stroud, Okla., on July 27, 1902. The couple had a son and a daughter. He was a member of St. Paul's English Lutheran Church. A retired employe of the Union Pacific Railroad, he worked in the car shop for many years. He was a member of the Old Timers Club, and a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen. He had been a resident of Grand Island for the past 40 years.

Survivors include the daughter, Mrs. Preisendorf, Grand Island, a son, Albert C. Stiller, Montabello, Calif.; three grandchildren and other relatives. The wife, three sisters and four brothers preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Paul's English Lutheran Church with the Rev. Harvey Clark officiating. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery. Friends may call at the Geddes Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
