He immigrated to the US on 19 Oct 1908 with his wife Rosalia and children Giuseppa, Vincenza, and Luigi [New York, Passenger and Crew Lists, 1820-1957]. He married Rosalia Criscione with whom he had the following children: Francesca Mezzanares Barbato (b. 1876), Tommaso (1879 - 1955), Stefano (1882 - 1964), Giuseppi (1885 - 1945), Salvatore (1889 - 1967), Giuseppa (1890 - 1925), Vincenza (1896 - 1919), and Luigi (1898 - 1947). In 1920 he was residing with his son Stephano along with Rosalia, Salvatore "Sam" and Luigi "Lewis" [1920 U.S. Census].
