Joan Duryea Rhodes of Bradenton, FL passed away September 13, 2016 after a several year battle with dementia.
Joan was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Frederick Sheppard ''Shep'' Rhodes, Jr. Joan and Shep lived in Garden City, NY from 1956 to 2005 before moving to Bradenton, FL.
Joan is survived by her four sons, Rick of Felton, CA, Alex of Houston, TX, Doug of Fairfax Station, VA and Virginia and Gary of Hillsborough, NJ and 5 grandchildren.
A Daughter of the American Revolution and a lifelong patriot, Joan was a strong supporter of Veterans causes and charities and a volunteer for the Episcopal Church.
A private family funeral will be held at a later date. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Wounded Warrior Project.
