SOUTHBURY — Randall Ellis "Randy" Hamilton, 65, died Tuesday, October 30, at his home in Southbury after a long illness.

Mr. Hamilton was born October 13, 1947, in New Haven, the third of four children of the late Russell and Lucinda (Brown) Hamilton. In June 1952, he came to live at the Southbury Training School.

Randy was a gentleman with excellent manners, a relaxed personality and a good sense of humor. Up until Alzheimer's disease caused a decline in his health, he would say a silent prayer before each meal, and would always wait till everyone else was eating before he would start his meal.

Over the years, he was involved in several day programs and used to earn wages working in a food services position. Afterwards, he "retired" and was involved with day programs that included habilitative as well as leisure activities.

He leaves two sisters, Marjorie Hamilton Guess of East Windsor and Barbara Hamilton Black of Richmond, Va., and a brother, Russell Hamilton, Jr., of Minneapolis, Minn.

A graveside service took place November 5 at Hamden Plains Cemetery, Hamden. A memorial service at STS is planned for a later date. Arrangements are by Beecher and Bennett Funeral Home, Hamden.
