Marjorie Tatum-Byrd, 70, of South Bend, Indiana departed this life on Thursday, October 25, 2012 in the Center for Hospice Care of South Bend. She was born on April 10, 1942 to Nona Tatum-Alford and Reece "Goose" Tatum in Gary, Indiana.
She graduated from Gary Roosevelt High School and continued her education in Nursing School, also in Gary, Indiana. She was employed at St. Joseph Medical Center for more than 25 years and retired from there in 2005. She was a member of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church. Marjorie loved to interact with her family. She had numerous friends and most of them very close to her. She also enjoyed traveling and shopping. She was an all around hard-working woman and was willing to tackle any task.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons: Douglas Reece Warnell, of South Bend, Indiana and Billy John Tatum of Chicago, Illinois; three grandchildren: Nia She-Reece Warnell, Satchel Vincenzo Warnell and Benjamin Reece Warnell; stepbrother, Reece Tatum of Albuquerque, New Mexico; along with a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Nona Tatum-Alford and Reece "Goose" Tatum; a brother, Reece Tatum Jr.
Funeral services for Marjorie Tatum-Byrd will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2012, in Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home Inc., 2702 Lincoln Way West, South Bend. Visitation will begin 11:00 a.m. and services at 12:00 noon.
Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka, Indiana.
