Services for James W. Minyard, 86, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Williams & Lord Funeral Home.
Mr. Minyard died of heart failure Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at Greenwood Leflore Hospital.
Mr. Minyard was born in Carroll County on Dec. 10, 1925, to the late Dorris and Beatrice Wiltshire Minyard. He lived in California for three years and in Grenada for 16 years, where he owned and managed Walker Finance Company. He was a member of First Baptist church in Greenwood. He was an Army veteran of World War II and received a Purple Heart for wounds he suffered during the war. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Eloise Hoover Minyard.
He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Blondean Vaughn Minyard of Greenwood; three daughters, Myra (Tommy) Crenshaw of Jackson, Tenn.; and Rita Horne and Anna Henderson, both of Greenwood; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at William & Lord Funeral Home.
Dr Joe Pate and the Rev Tony Campbell will officiate at the services.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Crenshaw, Randy Henderson, Bobby Henderson, Jason Crenshaw, Bobby Alford, Brian Wiltshire and Jimmy Hamilton. Honorary pallbearers will be Neal Wrenn, Rayburn Cheek, Chuck Gammill, Billy Acy, Kelly Sykes, Charles Bennett and George Hathcock, and all of Mr. Minyard's music-making friends.
American Legion Post 29 of Greenwood will perform military rites.
Burial will be in Moore's Memorial Cemetery in Carroll County.
