W.B. WRIGHT
Mr. William Benjamin Wright, an old and prominent citizen of Pensacola died yesterday morning at 8:30 at the home of his mother, 24 West Gregory street, in this city.
Mr. Wright was born in Covington, Ky., on April 21. 1863. He was a son of teh [sic] late George W. Wright and Mrs. Margaret Emma Wright. Mr. Wright comes from an old pioneer family of this state. His grandfather, Benjamin Wright, was the first attorney general of Florida, having come here with General Jackson, and on his grandmother's side he was descended from Colonel Don Francisco de La Rua of the Spanish army.
Mr. Wright was for a number of years an alderman in the city of Pensacola, has served two terms as a member of the board of public instruction of Escambia county and was just entering his third term.
He was married to Miss Mary Kelly on November 19, 1888. He leaves besides his wife, two sons who are now in France, one, the elder, Captain William Benjamin Wright, Jr., 15th Artillery, U.S. Air Service, and now at Issidun [sic], France; and the other, Captain Harold S. Wright, U.S. Marine Corps, Paris; his mother, and three sisters, Mrs. J.S. Reese, Miss Sally Ann Wright and Mrs. R.M. Cary.
Mr. Wright was for many years engaged with his father and brothers in the sawmill business in this city. He was president of the W.B. Wright company, a large timber and sawmill business, and was also president for several years of the Yellow River Railroad Co.
Mr. Wright was of an aimable [sic] and social disposition, and had a liberal education and had travelled ocnsiderably. [sic] He was prominent in public affairs in the city of Pensacola for many years, and was well liked by all his friends and acquaintances.
The funeral services will be held this morning at 11 o'clock at the residence, 24 West Gregory street, by the Rev. Robert Fullerton, of St. Michael's church. Interment will be in St. Michael's cemetery. The pallbearers are Knowles Hyer, James C. Watson, Scarritt Moreno, D.B. McMillan, Thomas W. Brent, A.S. Edwards.
