Louis Ferdinand Amborn, son of Louis and Annie (Davis) Amborn, was born November 17, 1928 in Graceville, Minnesota. Louis's family made their home in Stevens County, where he attended Morris Public Schools, graduating from Morris High School. On February 5, 1949, he was united in marriage to Katherine Sheets at Federated church in Morris. The couple lived in the Stevens County area, where they raised their children and Louis worked as a Lineman and Service Representative for Otter Tail Power Company. On January 15, 1951, Louis was activated into the United States Army National Guard, serving in the Korean War. He was released from active duty on October 12, 1952 but remained a member of the guards. Following his discharge, Louis returned to Morris, where he continued to work for Otter Tail Power.
Louis enjoyed fishing and hunting and playing Canasta. He was a very private man and gave unconditional love to everyone. He was very close to his family, especially his grandkids.
Louis died on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, having lived to reach the age of 83 years.
He is survived by his wife: Katherine Amborn of Morris; two sons: Allan (Joyce) Amborn of Morris and Dan (Patsy) Amborn of Luverne; one daughter: Julie (Bob) Ries of Monticello; one sister: Shirley (Don) Goracke of Morris; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: Stanley Amborn.
Pallbearers for the service are Louis's grandchildren: Anthony Amborn, Braedon Amborn, Shane Amborn, Tyler Amborn, Daniel Amborn and Craig VanLoy. Honorary pallbearers are Louis's grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Matthew VanLoy, Lleyton Amundson, Amy Henrichs, Ashley Henrichs, Erin Henrichs, McKenna Amborn, Kimberley VanLoy, Nicole VanLoy and Noelle VanLoy. Rita Lambert will serve as organist for the service. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
