Nancy Doris (Alison) Pittman, 87, of Pryor, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at Saint Francis Hospital. She was born on January 12, 1925, in Vick, Arkansas, the daughter of Stephen Lee Alison and Lula Mae (Walker) Alison. Doris graduated from Little Rock High School in 1943. She worked for Western Union. In 1949, Doris married Fred Idell Pittman Jr, a fireman at the time, in Little Rock, Arkansas. She moved to Monolith/Tehachapi, California from Arkansas with her husband and two children (Nancy Idell and Dorman Odell) in 1952 and lived there until 1958 when they moved to Foreman, Arkansas, with an additional daughter (Kathryn Lee). Her husband, Fred Jr, worked in cement plants in Monolith, Foreman, and finally in Pryor, Oklahoma, where they moved in 1960. Doris lived in Pryor, Oklahoma for the next 50+ years of her life (except for a few months in Coweta at a retirement home, before cancer diagnosis and death). Her marriage ended in divorce in 1972 after blessing her with three beloved children. She was a homemaker until then and afterwards worked for the Pryor Shoe Store as a sales clerk and doing repairs for many years. Doris was a Christian lady devoted to her Lord, children, and grand-children. She loved to sing and was accomplished at playing her Gibson acoustic guitar; her loved ones sorely miss this as well as her sewing abilities. She loved the Bible and prayed much. She was a giving person, using her talents to bring joy to her family and neighbors. Her smile, hugs, voice, and laughter will be sorely missed, more than words can convey, by all who knew and loved her.

Graveside Services will be held Friday, November 9, 2012, at noon in the Graham Memorial Cemetery in Pryor, Oklahoma, where her body will be laid to rest. At Doris's request, Elder Bill Winn Lee of Paris, Arkansas, will officiate. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society of Oklahoma in lieu of flowers. Services are under the direction of Shipman's Funeral & Cremation Service of Pryor, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lula Mae and Stephen Lee Alison; her sisters, Mary Lee Gerber of Midwest City, Oklahoma, and Hazel Irene East of Little Rock, Arkansas; her brothers, Stephen Lockwood Alison of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Billie Ray Alison of Leola, Arkansas.
