An obituary published in the Shelbyville Democrat on July 20, 1939, for Noble Beauregard Cordray, stated he had died suddenly in the Gene Hall store in West Shelbyville, Sunday [July 16, 1939]. Funeral services were held in the Shelbyville Baptist Church with burial in Glenwood. Surviving were the following children: N. A. Cordray, Guy Cordray, Richard Cordray and Mrs. Gene Adolph, all of Shelbyville, and Harley Cordray of Rochester. There were also 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Noble Beauregard Cordray was born in Lima, Ohio, February 9, 1862 and came to Illinois at the age of 17. He was a farmer in Shelby County until he retired in 1933. He married Susan B. Gough in 1884 and she had preceded him in death in 1936.

Death certificate gives his father's name as Joseph Alphus Cordray.
