EDWARD A. SCHMIDT, 58, GREENCREEK FARMER
Jul 12, 1990 published in the Lewiston Morning Tribune

GREENCREEK, Idaho Rosary for Edward Andrew Schmidt will be recited at St. Anthony's Catholic Church at Greencreek at 7:30 p.m. today.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, also at St. A nthony's, with the Rev. Thomas Mathes as celebrant. Burial will follow at the Greencreek Community Cemetery.

Schmidt, a longtime Greencreek farmer, died Tuesday morning, apparently of a heart at tack, at his farm five miles northeast of Cottonwood. He was 58.

He was born Sept. 15, 1931, at Greencreek to Henry and Elizabeth Jansen Schmidt. He attended grade school at Greencreek and graduated from Greencreek High School in 1949.

After graduation, he farmed with his father at Greencreek.

He and Carole M. Lightfield were married Sept. 29, 1956, at Clarkston and had lived and worked on the family farm since.

He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and was a member of the St. Anthony Society, Knights of Columbus, Cottonwood Lions Club, the Grangeville Elks Lodge, the Community Choir, and Hayseeds Quintet. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, camping and singing.

He is survived by his wife at Greencreek; three sons, Dale Schmidt of Clarkston, Robert Schmidt of Salt Lake City and Paul Schmidt of Cottonwood; four daughters, Lorrie Bernklau of West Germany, Becky Bernier of Coeur d'Alene, Sandy Schmidt of Lewiston and Sharon Schmidt of Boise; three brothers, Louis Schmidt, Virgil Schmidt and Harry Schmidt, all of Cottonwood; two sisters, Adele Logan of Garden Valley, Idaho, and Betty Ann Wessels of Dayton, Wash., and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother, Lona; two brothers, Urban Schmidt and Richard Schmidt, and two sisters, Sophie and Elizabeth.

The family suggests memorials may be made to St. Mary's Hospital Ambulance Fund at Cottonwood or to the American Heart Fund.

Uhlorn Funeral Home at Cottonwood is in charge of arrangements.
