Charles W. Matott, 61, of
118 East Hoard street, disabled employe of the New
York Air Brake company,
died at 5:15 Thursday afternoon, in the House of the Good Samaritan, where he
had been a patient since Monday. He had been afflicted with emphysema for a long
The funeral will be Monday at 8:30 from the Simpson funeral home and at 9 in the
Church of Our Lady of the
Sacred Heart, of which he
was a member. Burial will be
In Glenwood cemetery.
Mr. Matott had been in ill
health and unable to work
since he suffered a back injury in an accident while at work at the plant twelve
years ago. The lung condition
developed after the accident.
Surviving him are his wife,
Mrs. Bertha M. Deline Matott; a son. Charles James
M a t o t t , 118 East Hoard
street; a daughter, Mrs. David A: (Cedina M.) Wallace, Cleveland, 0.; and two grandchildren, David J. and Mary
E. Wallace, Cleveland. He
had two brothers, George
and Edward, but both are
Mr. Matott was born in Oswego, Aug. 5, 1904, a son of the late Napoleon and Mary Ellen McMahon Matott. The early part of his life was
spent in Oswego, where he attended St. Mary's parochial school and the Oswego High
school and later learned the
meat cutter's trade.
While in 0 s w e g o, he served for five vears—from 1922 to 1927— in the Ninth
