Charles Mattix: Charles M. Mattix, son of Charles D. and Elsie L. Hulbert Mattix, was born November 22,
1925, in Mahaska County near Beacon, Iowa. He attended Oskaloosa High School, graduating
in the class of 1943. He married Ila M. Hull on August 1, 1948 at the Assembly of God Church,
New Sharon, Iowa. He and Ila resided in the Oskaloosa area their entire lives. Charles enjoyed attending Bethel Baptist Church of Oskaloosa. He was proud of having served a period of time in the Merchant Marines. He and his wife spent many years farming. He also worked for Eldon Zook in the burial vault business, and enjoyed driving a school bus route. He dearly enjoyed horses and the hours he spent in training them.


Charles was preceded in death by parents, two sisters; Esther Baldwin and Louise Wymore,
and one brother, Kenneth Mattix.


Charles and Ila are the parents of three children; Lee and Jane Mattix of Independence, KS, Joyce Ann and Jim Allen of Blakesburg, IA, and Charles Ray and Yuvonne Mattix of Overland Park, KS. They have been blessed with seven grandchildren
