Karen Bouvier, 46, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 28, 2010, surrounded by her sister, Debbie, and her most beloved friends, at Merrimack Valley Hospice House, Haverhill, MA, where she lost her long fight against metastatic breast cancer.

Karen Marie Gerszewski was born on Saturday, February 8, 1964, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, the daughter of Philip L. and Martha (Novak) Gerszewski. She moved extensively during her childhood. After graduation from Senior High School in East Grand Forks, Minnesota, she joined the Air Force, attended broadcasting school, had a successful career in radio, and earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in writing from Methodist College, Fayetteville, North Carolina. Karen wrote for several newspapers, before landing her dream job in 2000 working for Hewlett-Packard as a writer and special events coordinator. In that Position she played a key role in coordinating HP's sponsorship of New England Events, including the Boston Marathon. Karen raised thousands of dollars for Susan G. Komen for the Cure throught the 3-Day Walk and The Walk for the Cure.

Karen is survived by the love of her life Phil DiSalvo of Nashua, NH; her daughter, Amy Crandall of Providence, RI; her father, Philip Gerszewski of Yuma, AZ; brothers, Wade (Terri) Gerszewski of Fargo, ND and Bill (Heidi) Gerszewski of East Grand Forks, Minnesota; sister, Debbie (Paul) Pedersen of Indianapolis, IN; niece Kaia and nephews Mason and Tor; many aunts, uncles, cousins; legions of dear friends; and her much-adored pups, Axel and Adrian. She was preceded in death by her mother, Martha Gerszewski; grandparents, Philip and Eva Gerszewski and William and Helen Novak.

Karen leaves a legacy of love, caring, compassion, spontaneity, and fun. She will be sorely missed by all those whose lives she touched, but her memory will live on forever in their hearts.

Celebration of Life will be held 2:30 pm Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Parish Center for the Arts, 10 Lincoln St., Westford, MA.
