Ossipee - Vito Ciccotelli, 94, died Oct. 16, 2012 at Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro after a long illness.

Born in Caramanico, Italy, May 18, 1918, he came to the United States in February of 1931.
He graduated from Lebanon Academy, West Lebanon, Maine in 1938 as valedictorian of his class.

He served in the U.S. Army from February of 1941 to February 1946. He was in the 602 Antiaircraft Artillery Gun Battalion and was at Governor's Island where they set up a station in defense of New York City in July of 1942, He went to Europe in March of 1944 and was in battles and campaigns in, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Ardennes. While there he visited Switzerland, and after his favorite flower and song was Edelweiss. In December of 1945 he was promoted from 1 St Lt. to Captain and later was discharged from inactive reserve in April 1953.

He graduated from the University of Maine, Orono, Class of 1950, with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. Fraternity Sigma Phi Epsilon.

He worked for the Navy Department in Suitland, Md., from 1950 to 1952 and worked in the Structural Section of Design for the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard from 1952 to May of 1978. He was a supervisor in Structural when he retired.

Members of his family include his wife of 61 years, Arlene (Munroe) Ciccotelli of Ossipee; sons, Dwight Ciccotelli and wife, Jean of Rochester, Paul Ciccotelli of Ossipee, Larry Ciccotelli and wife, Kathi of Rochester, and Wayne Ciccotelli and wife, Karen of Dover; grandchildren, Lindsey (Ciccotelli) Mitchell and husband, John of Newmarket; Brenton Ciccotelli of Boston, Mass; Anthony and Michael Ciccotelli of Rochester; Dominic and Vincent Ciccotelli of Dover; great grandchildren, Ayden and Beckett Mitchell of Newmarket;sister, Rosalie Ciccotelli, Alexandria Va.; his brother-in-law Richard Munroe and wife, Mary, mother-in-law, Gladys Spurling, 101, and husband, Robert; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents Severino and Maria Ciccotelli; his brother and sister-in-law Salvatore and Winnifred Ciccotelli, and his nephew Douglas Ciccotelli.

Calling hours will be held Friday 6-8pm at the R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., Rochester N.H. 03867. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 12pm in the chapel of the funeral home with visitation one hour prior.
