PORTLAND, Ore. Joey Lynn Nadine Eneas, 23, of Portland, Ore., a Lewiston area native, died Friday in an apparent suicide.

The Multnomah County Medical Examiner's office Saturday ruled death was due to asphyxiation by hanging.

Eneas was born Jan. 2, 1969, at Lewiston. She later attended schools in Seattle and Craig, Alaska, before earning her general education development (GED) certificate from ACC Adult Learning Center at Anchorage, Alaska, in 1987. She continued her education at the ITT School of Business at Boise and had been attending Trend Business College at Portland.

She also worked as a nurse's aide for the Alaska Native Medical Center, a saleswoman, a courtesy clerk, a recreation aide, a baby sitter, a general laborer and a receptionist assistant for the Nez Perce Tribe.

She was a dedicated supporter of all tribal sports activities and participated in dart league recreation.

Survivors include a daughter, Antionette Cheree Eneas of Ketchikan, Alaska; her father, William Eneas II of Lapwai; her mother, Ethel Lorraine LeCornu of Ketchikan; her stepfather, Andre Marcel LeCornu of Ketchikan; a maternal grandfather, Jesse Greene of Lapwai; a maternal stepgrandfather, Ron T. Halfmoon of Burns, Ore.; a paternal grandmother, Betty Corbett of Lapwai; a maternal grandmother, Loretta J. Halfmoon of Lapwai; a paternal stepgrandmother, Thelma Ratzeburg of Craig, Alaska; four brothers, Craig Quanah LeCornu of Vancouver, Wash., George Nix LeCornu of Ketchikan, and Robert and William Eneas III, both of Lapwai; and two sisters, Yvonne Marie Antionette LeCornu of Ketchikan and Brenda Lynn Steinocker of Boise.

Rosary will be recited at 7 tonight at the Lapwai Catholic Church. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, also at the Lapwai Catholic Church. Burial will be at the Coyote Cemetery. Dinner will follow at the Pi Nee Waus Community Center.
