Leland H. Hall Sr., aged 85 years, Bakersfield, CA.
TEC 3 U.S. ARMY WORLD WAR II

Leland H. Hall March 11, 1924 - July 14, 2009 Lee was born in Los Angeles and moved here with his parents as a young child. He went to local schools and was part of the 1942 graduating class at Kern County High School. The Monday following graduation he was hired on as a lineman with Pacific Telephone. He was drafted into the Army in 1943 and served until 1945. During his service he was a lineman in France and Germany during WWII. He was awarded several medals of honor during his many battles in the war. Upon completion of his service in the Army, he returned to work for Pacific Telephone. He retired, in 1982, with 40 years of service. Thirty-three years were spent as a supervisor in construction, installation, and coin. Lee also had a great love of golf. He belonged to several golf clubs, including Missing Links, Kern Telco, and was a charter member of SVTGA. He spent countless hours playing and watching the game he loved with those he loved- his family and close friends. He was also one of the best left-handed bowlers in Kern County and on weekends was a pin-setter at the Bakersfield Bowling Alley, on 18th Street, in 1941. Lee coached JBA from 1957 to 1966 for the Greenlawn Mortuary team. Lee was proud to say that he was a member of the Elks and an active member of the Free Masons. With all of these many years of activities and service to both his country and community, it is no wonder that he was so truly loved and appreciated. There is truly no way to know exactly how many lives he has touched in his long, amazing life. We just know that he will be missed by all. Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Theresa Hall, and his first wife Barbara Jean Wallace. He is survived by his wife, Betty Hall; son, Lee Hall Jr. and wife Johnna; daughter, Kathleen Dickey and husband Lloyd; step-daughter, Stephanie Buehler and husband Ted; grandchildren, Leanna Hall-Carskaddon and husband Steve, Lee Hall III, Darrin Dickey and wife Mandi, Jessica Jackson and husband Ryan, and Teresa Dickey; his great- grandchildren, Josh Dickey, Connor Carskaddon, Lanie Jackson, Cameron Carskaddon, Kaleb Dickey, Jacob Jackson, and Andrew Dickey; a nephew and many nieces. A memorial service will be held for Lee at the Elks Lodge, 1616 30th St., Bakersfield, CA on Saturday, July 25, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lee's memory, to Kern County Junior Golfers Association, 4304 Onyx Ct., Bakersfield, CA 93308 or the charity of your choice.
