Lt. Colonel Charles Raymond Smith, (RET.) of Nampa, Idaho, died Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at his home surrounded by loving family.
He was born November 8, 1926 in Philadelphia, PA. to Charles Raymond Smith Sr. and Evangeline Wise Smith. He spent his childhood years in Phoebus and Hampton, VA.
Charles served proudly in the US Army through WWII, Korea and Viet Nam, retiring in 1972 as Lt. Colonel.
He was lovingly called "Pop," grandpa, papa and Charlie by his family.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Smith, and is survived by his eight children: Shawnee Smith, Mike (Kathy) Williams, Sharon Pike, Jenine (Wayne) Stredwick, Steve Smith, Trey (Amy) Williams, Susan (Pete) Bradley and Scott Smith; 21 Grandchildren; 10 Great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Edna Coulthard and Kaitie Langston; and his two faithful dogs, Onynx and PeeWee.
