Funeral services for Pruitt Miller were conducted Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at the Cantlon Otterness Funeral Chapel in Buffalo with Dr. Paul Miller and Rev. John Miller officiating. Full Military Honors will be performed by Bravo Team. Escorts will be Don Ragsdale, Rodney Taylor, Joe Miller, John Dull, Leroy Perry, Wes Hill, Terry Davies, and Jerry Taylor. Interment was in Mission Chapel Cemetery under the direction of the Cantlon Otterness Funeral Home of Buffalo.

Pruitt Miller, 86, Buffalo, MO, passed away Oct. 18, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO. Pruitt was born Feb. 28, 1926, in Conway, MO to John and Alva (Pettitt) Miller. He was raised on the family farm in Elkland with six brothers and sisters. He joined the Navy at the age of 18 and proudly represented our country during World War II. Pruitt served with valor on the USS Egeria in the Pacific. Pruitt received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Missouri State University and earned a Master's Degree from the University of Missouri. Pruitt retired in 1993 after 45 years as a Dallas County educator. He spent 19 years as a teacher, coach, and principal at Charity School, and 26 years as an elementary principal in Buffalo.

Miller is past president of the Southwest District Association of Elementary School Principals and was a member of their Executive Committee. He is past president of Phi Delta Kappa and was chosen to receive their Educator's Award. Miller served on the Board and Executive Committee of the American Lung Association for 29 years. He was also president of the local MSTA and CTA.

Pruitt was a long time member of both the First Baptist Church of Buffalo and Gideons International. Pruitt led an active life that included woodworking, bee-keeping, hunting, gardening, working on the family farm, and purple martin housing.

Pruitt was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alva Miller; one brother, Harold Miller; and his sister, Zeva Taylor.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Viola (Ragsdale) Miller; two children, Marilyn and husband Michael Walker of Mountain Grove, MO, and Curtis and wife Susan Miller of Leawood, Kansas; three brothers, Dr. Paul Miller of Ft. Worth, Texas, Joe and wife Lorean Miller of Peculiar, MO, and Rev. John and wife Berna Miller of Mandan, ND; one sister, Zetta Sue Davies of Atlanta, GA; and three grandchildren, Sarah Miller, Lindsay Miller, and Audrey Walker. Pruitt will be sadly missed by a host of nephews, nieces, friends, and neighbors. Two days before his passing, Pruitt said, "I have had a great life. If I had to do it all over again, I would not change a thing."
