Archie William Haabala, 64, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 1984, at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria.

Archie was born February 6, 1920 in Moe Township, Minnesota, to Jacob and Josephine Haabala. He was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Moe Township. He attended school in District 5 Moe Township, served five months in the United States Royal Navy and was discharged for medical reasons. He was then drafted into the Army a year later, and served three years in the Aleutian Islands, was honorably discharged in May of 1946. He then engaged in farming until six years ago. Archie enjoyed hunting and fishing and all out door activities.

He is survived by one brother, Verner Haabala of Moe Township, and four sisters, Mrs. Anna Hanna of Breckenridge, Minnesota; Sylvia of Rochester, Minnesota; Lillian, Mrs. Willard Scherer, of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and Ellen, Mrs. Toivo Hulkonen of Moorhead, Minnesota; three uncles, William, Isaac and Francis Johnson; two aunts, Mayme Johnson and Mrs. Helen Reynolds. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 14, 1984 at the Alexandria Funeral Home, with Rev. Gordon L. Grage, officiating. Pallbearers were Robert Haabala, Duane Haabala, William Hulkonen, Jack Hanna, Kenneth Hanna, and Paul Roers. Interment was in the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery of Moe Township. Services were directed by the Alexandria Funeral Home.
