She was born Oct. 19, 1919, at Seward, where she grew up with two brothers and three sisters. She was united in holy matrimony with Dewain Buettgenbach on Jan. 1, 1939, and raised three children while working many part-time jobs. She worked at Hughs Brothers in Seward before moving to Beatrice in 1947.
She retired from the Beatrice State Developmental Center, where she had worked in the laundry department. She also reupholstered furniture for many residents in Beatrice and her work can be seen in many homes throughout town. She loved to go camping with her husband and enjoyed fish fries with many friends. For many years, they would go on weekends to Holmesville or Wakefield, Kan., to enjoy the outdoors. She also enjoyed dancing. Most of all, she loved her family and took pride in making sure they were always taken care of. She made lots of chocolate cake and cinnamon rolls for them and always welcomed many friends and family for meals. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and couldn't wait to hold each new baby in her arms and love them.
