Born in Mariners Harbor, Mr. Lehn moved to Aberdeen 49 years ago.
Mr. Lehn worked as a firefighter for 23 years in lower Manhattan and on Staten Island, retiring in 1976 as a lieutenant. He later worked as the regional director for the National Fire and Sprinkler Association, Paterson, N.J.
Mr. Lehn served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps. during World War II, from 1943 to 1946, stationed in Norwich, England.
Mr. Lehn was active in local politics in Matawan, N.J., in the 1970s and 1980s, and ran for township council with the Republican Party. He was a member and trustee of First Baptist Church, Matawan.
Mr. Lehn enjoyed painting and won several awards for his work. He also enjoyed gardening and reading.
His wife of 57 years, the former Eileen Coakley, died in 2006.
Surviving are a son, Kenneth; four daughters, Kathleen and Eileen Lehn, Barbara Lepine and Colleen DeGeorge; three sisters, Madolyn Tabbot, Harriet Alger and Beverly Lehn; 12 grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Waitt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Morganville, N.J., with mass at 11 a.m. in First Baptist Church, Matawan. Burial will be in the Brigadier Gen. William C. Doyle Veteran Cemetery, Arneytown, N.J
