She and William can be found again residing on Avenue A in Pottawattamie, Kane County, Iowa (now known as Council Bluffs, Iowa) on the 1900 census. Listed as Carie A. (born March 1844 in Pennsylvania), she was living with her husband, listed as W. A. (born June 1835 in Virginia). William's occupation was listed as a janitor. The census states the couple had been married for 40 years. They were living with son Ugene (born July 1886) in Iowa, as well as Thomas Robinson, listed as a boarder, born Oct. 1833 in Russia, who worked as a day laborer. The census also states Carolyn's father was born in Vermont and her mother in England.

A brief notice listed in the Omaha Daily Bee, October 9, 1898 (Council Bluffs News) states: "Mrs. W. A. Snodgrass of Avenue A has as her guests her sister, Mrs. Lou Warbutton and daughter, Edith, of Pierre. S. D."

It is unknown where the couple lived at the time the 1880 census was taken, but their daughter, listed as Ella M. (age 14, born in Iowa - father born in West Virginia, mother in Pennsylvania), was residing with her paternal grandparents, John W. Snodgrass (age 68, born in W. Virginia), who worked as a Minister of the Gospel, and Margaret D. (age 67, born in W. Virginia). They lived in Boonesboro, Boone County, Iowa.

Listed on the 1860 census for Buckhannon, Upshur County, Virginia, John and Margaret were the parents of Alcinda J. (age 18), and Martha A. and Mary C. (twins), age 14.
