of Cahokia, Ill., born September 10, 1931, in Tilden, Ill., passed away on Saturday November 3, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her loving and caring family. Delores was a homemaker as well as a dear sweet wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She married the love of her life, John Edward Woodside Sr. on April 7, 1951. Together they raised their family in Cahokia where she formed many life-long friendships. Earlier in life she was a Republican Party Election Judge and an active member of the Cahokia American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid lover of all animals and found pleasure in caring for the many different types of pets her family had during her lifetime. She was the kindest and gentlest of people and never had a cross word for anyone. Her family and friends were lucky and blessed to have had her in their lives. Delores was preceded in death by her parents, Alberta and Nettia, nee Harris, Kirkpatrick; two brothers, Bruce Kirkpatrick and Jerry Kirkpatrick; and three grandsons David Woodside, Trent Woodside and Travis Woodside. Surviving are her husband, John Woodside Sr. of Cahokia, Ill.; children, Antoinette “Toni” (David) Chapman of Grand Island, Fl., John “Woody” (Kay) Woodside Jr. of Charleston, S. C., Denise (Edward) Herderhorst of Cahokia, Ill., Michele (John) Fink of New Douglas, Ill. and Kevin Woodside of Shiloh, Ill.; grandchildren Dallas (Justin) Ackley of Winter Garden, Fl., Tammy (Boyd) Taylor of Charleston, S.C., John (Jaime) Bach of Leesburg, Fl., Aaron Woodside of Fairview Heights, Ill., Sara Woodside of Evansville, In., Antoinette Woodside of Charleston, S.C., Adam (Amber) Fink of Staunton, Ill. and Joshua Fink of New Douglas, Ill.; great-grandchildren, Nautia Taylor, Kaden Taylor, Christian Edwards, Connor Bach and Madison Bach; brothers Lester Kirkpatrick, Alberta “Buster” (Mary) Kirkpatrick, Harold (Kay) Kirkpatrick, Gary “Babe” Kirkpatrick and Randy (Denise) Kirkpatrick; sisters Joyce Eggers, Patricia (Floyd) Green and Gail (Gary) Kloth. Other survivors include numerous nephews, nieces and dear friends. "After you cross over the bridge and come to the clearing at the end of the path you will meet with the loved ones that have taken the journey before you". We will miss you dearly Mother, but shall take comfort in the knowledge that one day we will be reunited and once again will be in your loving presence.
