A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, February 16, at Liberty First United Methodist with the Rev. Eugene Dean officiating.
Mary was born in Sampson County to the late Abel and Mary Caison Warren. She was a 1944 graduate of Garland High School and earned her bachelor's degree at Greensboro College as a member of the 1948 graduating class. She was a teacher for 26 years, most of those years at Liberty School.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Glenn C. Bates, and her husband, Homer Flynt, and two brothers, McRae and Calvin Warren.
She leaves behind four daughters, Mary Glynn "M.G." Roberson of Kernersville, Carol Pike of Liberty, Doris Kelly of Elon, and Sandra Eldred of Greensboro; two sons, Chuck and David Flynt, both of Greensboro; one sister, Iris Park of Maryland; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends following the service on Monday in the church fellowship hall.
At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Liberty First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 220, Liberty, NC 27298, or to The Palliative Care Unit at Moses Cone Hospital, 1200 N. Elm Street, Greensboro, NC 27401.
