Charles Edward Bailey, 85, of Lewistown, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.

Born May 7, 1937, in Beavertown, PA, he was the son of the late Clyde Eugene and Helen (Kratzer) Bailey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by; a daughter, Virginia Lee Watt.

He is survived by; his wife, Bernice A. (Fagan) Bailey, of Lewistown; a granddaughter, Britney Baumgardner and husband, Willie, of Lewistown; and a great-grandson, Colton Baumgardner; son-in-law, Darrell Watt; a sister-in-law, Anna L. (Fagan) Shirey and husband, Charles, of McClure; and several loving nieces and nephews.

Charles was a member of the Gospel Hall in Lewistown. He was a life member of City Hook and Ladder, Moose, American Legion, and VFW Post 7011. Earlier in life, he was a social member of Fame, Brooklyn, and Junction.

Earlier in life, he worked as a dairy farmer. He worked for the Borough of Lewistown, as a heavy equipment operator for 44 years, and he attended seminars for AFSCME Local 213 Union in the Poconos.

He loved working in his yard, and he received lots of compliments on the beauty of his yard. He was especially fond of his flower and vegetable gardens; he liked to give away some of his vegetables to anyone that walked by his home.

A viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Friday, July 8, 2022, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m., with Rev. Kurtis Swisher officiating.

Interment will take place in Juniata Memorial Park cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Charles's memory to: Rescue Our Furry Friends (R.O.F.F), P.O. Box 6, Lewistown, PA 17044.
