Henry David Akin, 100, began his law career in 1925 at Wichita Falls, Texas. He practiced law in Amarillo later before moving to Dallas, Texas in 1938. He joined Akin Gump as a partner in 1986.

Henry David Akin received his AB in 1922 from Southwestern University. He received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law in 1925. Mr. Akin was on staff at the Texas Law Review during that time.

He was licensed to practice before all Texas courts, the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Texas and the District of Columbia. Mr. Akin served as an adjunct professor and a lecturer at Southern Methodist University School of Law from 1944-1976.
