Aaron L. Shirk, age 90, formerly of Gordonville, passed away at Landis Homes on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. He was the husband of the late Miriam Myers Shirk who passed away on September 20, 2007.
He was born in Paradise, son of the late John & Lena Lichty Shirk. He was a member of Ridgeview Mennonite Church of Gordonville where in the past he was a Sunday School Teacher. Aaron was the owner of the former Shirk's Chevrolet of Paradise, now Keim Chevrolet, retiring in 1986. He was a graduate of the former Paradise High School class of 1940. He was a member of the Gideons International.
Surviving are 4 sons: J. Larry husband of Elaine Bechtel Shirk of Lancaster, Barry L. husband of Joyce Gehman Shirk of Paradise, Dennis husband of Janet Kunkel Shirk of Gordonville, Daryl husband of Beth Brunstetter Shirk of Easton, PA; 9 grandchildren: Joy wife of David Long, Jessica wife of Randy Hess, Brent husband of Jennifer Kessler Shirk, Craig husband of Carina Uhle Shirk, Lisa Shirk, Amy wife of Brian Fallock, Eric, Gregory & Megan Shirk; 5 great grandchildren: Brandon Lewis & Jared Tyler Shirk, Sofia Addison Shirk, Aaron Christopher & Miriam Catherine Long; 2 step great grandchildren: Steve & Laura Hess; 1 sister: Esther Miller of Gordonville. He was preceded in death by 5 siblings: Ruth Nissley, Paul, David, John & Alvin Shirk.
Funeral service will take place from the Ridgeview Mennonite Church, 3723 Ridge Road, Gordonville, PA on Thursday, November 8th, at 2 p.m. with Pastors Mick Sommers and Nelson Yoder officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 12:30 p.m. until time of service.
