KEIZER - Dr. Kenneth L Prince of Keizer passed away Sunday, October 30, 2012. Ken was born January 21, 1925, in Salem Oregon, to Charles and Ruth Prince. He graduated from Salem High School at the age of 16. After High School, he entered World War II on his 17th birthday and served in the United States Navy. At the conclusion of the War, he attended Willamette University and then Pacific University becoming a Doctor of Optometry.
Ken was "made" for retirement and enjoyed reading, gardening and walking. It's estimated; he walked over 25,000 miles during retirement in used shoes from his son Matt. He loved a bargain and enjoyed talking with strangers at the grocery store while using his coupons.
Ken was preceded in death by his wife that he loved, Laura Lee Prince. Ken is survived by his sons, Kenneth Charles Prince of Council ID, Steven Matthew Prince of Sandpoint, ID, Daniel Bradford Prince of Nashville, TN, Michael Gregory Prince of Portland, OR and a daughter Holly Suzanne Cooney also of Portland. He also has 10 grandchildren and never missed a birthday acknowledgement.
He was a proud man who was deeply loved by his family and he will be greatly missed.
A family graveside service will be held Friday, November 9, 2012 at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, OR.
