LEONDARDVILLE-- Georgia Sump Carlson, 97, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at the Leonardville Nursing Home, Leonardville.

Mrs. Carlson was born Aug. 17, 1913 on the family farm near Winkler, Kan., the daughter of Albert and Maude (Gilchrist) Sump.

She was a homemaker and a very accomplished artist. She was a member of the Walsburg Lutheran Church.

Georgia was married on May 9, 1981 to Warren Carlson. He preceded her in death on June 21, 2004. She was also preceded by her parents, two brothers, Cecil and Norman Sump, two sisters, Maurine Parker and Virginia Carlson.

Survivors include one brother, Grant Sump and wife Betty of Clay Center; three stepchildren, Keith Carlson, Jeanne Kerr and Betty Wilson; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, at the Walsburg Lutheran Church northeast of Leonardville with the Rev. Gordon L. Sandquist officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center.

Respect calls may be made anytime Wednesday at the Holmes-Pfeifley Funeral Home, Riley, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Walsburg Lutheran Church.
