PATRICK LEE COLWELL, 82, March 2, 1925 - Jan. 2, 2008.

Pat Colwell, husband, father, grandfather, friend, golfer, Democrat, will be remembered fondly by family and friends. He died after a brief illness, from acute mylogeneous leukemia. He and his wife of 60 years, Rowena Burns Colwell, reared three children in the Pasadena/Deer Park area. He was the second son born of Mary and Alfred Colwell in Harwood, Texas. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and made six landings in the South Pacific, the first at Guadalcanal, the last at Iwo Jima, as a landing craft Coxswain. He retired from Ethyl Refinery. For many years, he served as Precinct Chair for the largest Democratic Precinct in Harris County. He served on the board of Baywood Country Club. He had been a Deacon and Elder at Eastminister Presbyterian Church, and was a member of Webster Presbyterian Church. His children and grandchildren will forever cherish memories of many summers at the family cabin he built in Dillon, Colorado. Pat is survived by his wife, Rowena, three children and two "Nearly Perfect" grandchildren: son Al and wife Renee and grandson Patrick Taylor, daughter Amy Colwell, and daughter Ann Colwell-Tucker and husband Chris Tucker and granddaughter Madeline. He is preceded in death by his brothers, A.B. Colwell and Bill Colwell, and sister Loys Seitz. Funeral Services will be Saturday, Jan. 5, 11 a.m. at Webster Presbyterian Church at 201 West NASA Parkway. A reception will follow in Bouton Hall. Internment will be the following day at Highsmith Cemetery in Luling, Texas. Memorials may be made to Star of Hope, Webster Presbyterian Local Benevolence Fund or your favorite charity.
