Mr. Larry E. Gunter, Sr., 65 of Cumming, died Monday, November 5, 2012.

Born April 2, 1947 to the late Hugh and Elton Hall Gunter of Alpharetta, Larry resided in Alpharetta until 2001 when he moved to Cumming.

Larry served as a sergeant in the United States Army and spent two years in Germany. He was a leader in the building and construction industry for over 45 years. He was employed by Marchman and Sons, Robert M. Merritt and Hedgewood Properties where he was recognized "For service above and beyond the call of Duty". He later went on to establish Gunter Construction and Restoration with his sons.

Larry great sense of humor and warm heart always put a smile on everyone's face. He had many friends but none like his "Harley Girl".

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Margaret Ann David Gunter; sons, Larry E. Gunter, Jr. of Cumming and Scott D. Gunter and his wife, Meghan of Canton and three grandchildren, Hanna, Austin and Cole. He is also survived by his brother, Frank Gunter and his wife Maxine of Woodstock and sister, Sue McDade of Jacksonville Beach, FL, along with in-law relatives, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 9, at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Edward Burnett officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery.
