Son of the late James Franklin Ball and Emma Spruill Ball, he was a member of the Church of Christ. He was a salesman for Mallison's Hardware and True Value. He was a former member of the Lion's Club and the Police Boy's Club. He was survived by his wife of 58 years, Joan Holland Ball; children, Arthur Louis Ball, Jr. (Darlene) and Meelanie Ball Everette; grandchildren, Mallory Ball, Lyndsay Ball, Brad Smith and Amber Waters; great-grandchildren, Lily Smith, Ella Smith, McKayla Waters, Mariah Waters, Bethany Waters and Bryce Waters; sister, Edna Moore; and an extended family of relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James Franklin Ball, Jr., and Horace Taylor Ball; and sisters, Mabel Sumrell and Gladys Wright Hammond. His graveside funeral was held on November 3, 2012, with Linwood Adams, Jr., officiating.
