The son of John Hahn and Elizabeth Delosier. He married Susan Elizabeth Sturdevant, January 5 1865, in Franklin County, PA. She was the daughter of William Henry Sturdevent II and Ann Whitlock. The home of George W. and Susan E. Sturdevant Hahn was located near the home place of his mother Elizabeth Delosier Hahn Spencer, and his grandparents Ignatius Nathaniel (Nace) and Susan NIchols Delosier, and a short distance from his half brother Hiram J. Spencer, on the Edgemont Road, at Blue Mountain, Washington County, MD.
In the 1850 census report Elizabeth Delosier Hahn Spencer, sons George Washington Hahn and Hiram J. Spencer, they were living with Elizabeth's parents. In the 1870 census reports George W. and Susan E. Hahn and children William and Amanda were living with grandmother Susan Nichols Delosier. Elizabeth Delosier Hahn Spencer was living with her son Hiram J. Spencer, and his wife Melinda Eyler.
George W. and Susan E. Sturdevant Hahn lived the remainder of their lives at Blue Mountain. Land called, "Spears"," Hoover Last Change", The Third Resurvey on Sarah's Delight", "Burnie's Justice", and "Nicholas Contrivance". 19 acers and seven perches, one mile west of the Blue Mountain House, along side the public road leading from Smithsburg, to State Line Road. This property was once part of the large estate belonging to his great grandparents William and Barbara Nichols, who inherited it from his parents Edward and Sarah Nichols in 1777. The land recorded 23 Oct 1739, with a warrant date of 26 July 1739 and numbered EL# 5-507. A resurvey, made on "Nicholas Contrivance", 24 Sep 1764 of 690 acers, was located next to a spring called Rattlesnake Spring and called Smoke Pipe 4A. The Tracey Papers, show the plot of land to be bordered between Maryland and Pennsylvania.
George Washington Hahn was a labor, a one time Truant Officer at the Blue Mountain School #4, located on the Edgemont Road, at Blue Mountain. He devoted most of his life working for the Western Maryland Rail Road at Pen-Mar Park. Mr. Kettoman was the pump man at Glen Aften in 1916, He worked from April through October, ten hours a day, seven days a week, earnings totaling $ 318.38. At one point in time, if the auxiliary pump was needed, George Hahn was called in. He would work twelve hours a day for 12 1/2 cents an hour.
