Salt Lake Tribune, The (UT) - December 3, 2000. Deceased Name: Dail Ogden, 79, died November 29, 2000 after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease, surrounded by family and friends. Dail was born in Provo, UT the son of Josiah Pinckney Ogden and Mira Frisbey Ogden Aug 2, 1921. His childhood was spent among the rocky canyons of Helper, UT. He graduated from Bear River High School in 1939. He joined the 2nd World War effort one day after his 18th birthday in 1939 and served with the 14th Air Force in China under the command of General Chennault's Flying Tigers. Upon return to the United States in 1944, he flew transport planes to Australia. He returned to Salt Lake after his discharge in 1945 and soon joined KSL Radio and Television Network. Dail was strongly committed to the concept of educational TV and joined KUED channel 7 where he assisted in pioneering the use of TV for instruction and in establishing a network of public television stations throughout the state. In 1972 Dail's innovative spirit was tapped by NASA, through the Federation of Rocky Mountain States in Denver, CO to participate in the development of worldwide satellite communications. There he provided innovative leadership until his retirement in 1983, moving to the magic and serenity of Sedona, AZ red rock country. Dail and his wife Noreen returned to Salt Lake City in 1996. His unfailing kind and witty spirit remains with all who shared his companionship, not only in his professional achievements but over many years of backpacking, mountain climbing, skiing and the game of golf.

Dail is survived by his wife Noreen; children from a previous marriage to Thola Jensen Lowe, Carol Tuckett (Michael), Scott Ogden (Karen), Monte Ogden (Colleen); brother, J. Phil Ogden (Hermes); sister, Doris Van Duren (Raymond); 11 grandchildren; along with six great-grandchildren. The family wishes to express their deep gratitude for the caring services provided by Dr. Steven Fehlauer and the staff of Holladay Health Care. Funeral services for this remarkable and loving man will be held Monday, December 4, 2000 at 10 a.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive where friends may call on Sunday from 5-6 p.m. and on Monday from 8:45-9:45 a.m. prior to services.
