Memorial Tribute Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2008, at a 1:30 PM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Maurice, for Gaylen Hernandez Broussard, 61, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette.
Entombment will be in St. Alphonsus Mausoleum in Maurice. Reverend O. Joseph Breaux, Pastor of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Maurice, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Giftbearers will be Gabrielle Frieden, Adam Burke and Stephan Broussard. Lector will be Francine Mathieu. Jodi Bollich, organist and soloist, will sing "Ave Maria", "Amazing Grace", "Be Not Afraid" and "Angel" for the services.
Survivors include beloved husband, Peter Broussard of Maurice; three daughters, Ashley Broussard Baxter and her husband Todd of Lafayette, Robbin Gayle Broussard of Maurice and Melody Renee Laurent and her husband Paul of Lafayette; grandchildren, Gabrielle Renae Frieden, Colleen Laurent, Meghan Laurent, Stephan Michael Broussard, Adam Ross Burke, Matthew Laurent, Warner Laurent and Dayton Rogers; and one brother, Carl J. Hernandez.
She was preceded in death by one son, Kevin Louis Broussard; and her parents, Haywood and Inez Simon Hernandez.
A native of Lafayette and a resident of Maurice, Gaylen Hernandez Broussard graduated from Youngsville High School in 1965. She worked for South Central Bell as an operator in her younger days and later became a homemaker. Mrs. Broussard was a supporter of Comeaux High School Band. Gaylen Broussard was an excellent cook, enjoyed sewing, loved animals and entertaining family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Landry, Adam Baudoin, Corey Carriere, Brian Reaux, Paul Laurent, Justin Lewis, Derrick Shields and Carl Hernandez.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Todd Baxter, Adam Burke, Stephan Broussard, Matthew Laurent and Dayton Rogers.
A Rosary will be prayed Friday, May 30, 2008 at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
