Services for Samuel P. Kohl, a life-long resident of the Lisbon area, were conducted at 2 Saturday, May 4, 1963, at the Federated church by the Rev. Robert Teague and the Rev. Ralph Schenk.
Mr. Kohl, 90, died at his home last Thursday, May 2, following a lingering illness.
Pallbearers were John and Ralph Kohl, Roland Kerslake, Howard Stork and Harold and Richard Bohr. Burial was in Lisbon cemetery. Morgan funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
The son of Solomon and Elizabeth (Blessing) Kohl, Mr. Kohl was born Feb. 23, 1873, on a farm south of Lisbon. Taking over the management of the farm after the death of his father in 1893, he continued to live there until his death.
He was married to Jessie Olive Mitchell Sept. 25, 1895, at Tipton. The couple celebrated their 66th anniversary in 1961. Mrs. Kohl died later that year.
Mr. Kohl was a devoted Christian and maintained a keen interest in his family and many friends through his declining years. He attended the Coon Creek community church, joining it during the ministry of the Rev. Keith Tabor.
Surviving are four sons: Roy, Lloyd, Donald and Maurice; a daughter, Mrs. Homer (Grace) Light, all of Lisbon; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, and four brothers: Henry, Fred, Emmanuel and John.
