He was born to Michael and Mary C (Brady) Frawley. Both sets of grandparents were from Ireland.

He had two older brothers, John and William, of I LOVE LUCY fame, and a younger sister, Mary.

He performed in thirteen Broadway musicals or revues. The first was "Odds and Ends of 1917" which opened Nov 19, 1917. He was also seen in "Come Along", "Three Showers", "Kissing Time", "Music Box Review [1921]", "Helen of Troy, New York", "Sally", "Sunny", "Piggy", "Manhattan Mary", "Treasure Girl" and "Top Speed". The last show to his credit on Broadway was "Here Goes the Bride" which opened Nov 3, 1931 and closed Nov 7, 1931.
