Donna Mae (Poppleton) (Shults) Smith, passed from this life on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012. Donna was born on Aug. 10, 1947 to Robert James Poppleton and Thelma Cleo Jones. They lived in Chico, CA until they relocated to Red Bluff, CA. Donna attended Bidwell Jr. High in the 8th grade and then went on to graduate from Red Bluff Union High as Donna Mae Shults.
Donna lived there until 1984 when she moved to Concord, CA with her new husband, Larry Gene Smith. She also resided for a time in Antioch, CA until moving to Oroville, CA in 2000, where she resided for the remaining days of her life. During her life she worked for K-Mart in both Red Bluff and Concord, later for Contra Costa County General Services and then to the Butte County Assessor's Office for 11-1/2 years from Dec. of 2000 until Sept. of 2012.
Donna was a genealogist and became a member of the Chico Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She also owned her own business, "Smiths House of Soap", which she operated out of her home for 8 years.
She is survived by her husband, Larry G. Smith of Oroville, CA; her sister, Shirley Chambers of Paradise, CA; her brother, Leslie Poppleton of Arizona; her two sons, Michael Shults and spouse, Sarah of Sacramento, CA; and Matthew Shults and spouse, Jennifer of Chico, CA; her step-daughter, Angela (Smith) Heinrichs and spouse, Greg of Magalia, CA; and eight grandchildren, Christian, Alyssa, Sarina, Esme, Isaac, Sofia, Levi and Rebekah.
